COACHING CLINIC SCHEDULE

NOTE: For 2008/2009 , the Region intends to hold at least THREE pre-season Coaches meetings and IMPACT clinics (and more than likely more than that spread around the state). With our numbers, it has become increasingly more difficult to get everyone in one site. The good news is this gives clubs/teams/coaches more options. All clubs/teams must have at least one rep at one of the meetings in order to gather the season information. All coaches that need to be IMPACT certified may choose the meeting/clinic that they wish to attend. A minimum of IMPACT certification is required in order to coach (this applies to all Head and Assistant Coaches) in the Region but once you are certified you do not need to attend another "full" IMPACT clinic unless you want updated information or to meet the continuing education requirement. The Carolina Region has a continuing education requirement - once IMPACT or CAP certified, a coach must attend annually a Region-approved education based coaching clinic to show dedication to their profession and the kids they will impact. Coaches that are already IMPACT or CAP certified may attend the meeting and then attend the gym session of the IMPACT clinic to meet their annual continuing education/clinic requirement (or attend any other clinic, convention, or course as desired). Proof of attendance should be sent to region office and prior approval of courses may be obtained from Region Staff - events that have been approved in past and do not need prior approval are: any CAP clinic, Gold Medal Coaching Clinics, the AVCA Convention, or a NCHSAA pre-season coaching clinic.

REMINDER - Coaches will not be added to a Team's Tournament Roster until they are IMPACT/CAP certified and pass the Background Screen. So all coaches must be IMPACT certified before their team's FIRST tournament!

• November 15, 2008 - Carolina Region IMPACT clinic (there will only be an abbreviated Coaches meeting beforehand due to time constraints). SITE: Southlake Christian Academy, Huntersville. Check-in begins at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am start time. The Gym portion of IMPACT clinic should begin around 10:15 am and last around 2 hours. The classroom session will begin around 12:30 pm and last around 3 hours. Please pre-register (link to be posted shortly) so we know how many are attending. Dress comfortably as volunteers may be needed for on-court demonstrations. Pen and paper recommended.
• November 22, 2008 - Carolina Region IMPACT clinic (there will only be an abbreviated Coaches meeting beforehand due to time constraints). SITE: Triangle Volleyball Club, Morrisville. Check-in begins at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am start time. The Gym portion of IMPACT clinic should begin around 10:15 am and last around 2 hours. • Club-Sponsored clinic - Carolina Select will be holding an IMPACT clinic on Sat., Dec. 6th at Newton Recreation Center, 23 South Brady Ave, Newton, NC. The clinic will start at 10 a.m. and end at 4:30-5:00 p.m. Those already IMPACT certified that want to use the gym session as to meet their annual education requirement only need to attend from 10-12 noon. There will be a charge of $5 a person for all outside coaches. Please contact Candace Cummins at president@carolinaselectvb.org to preregister or for more information or directions.
• December 20, 2008 - Carolina Region Pre-Season Meeting and IMPACT clinic. SITE: Barber Park, Greensboro. Check-in begins at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am start time. The Gym portion of IMPACT clinic should begin around 11:30 am and last around 2 hours. The classroom session will begin around 2 pm and last 2-3 hours. Please pre-register (link to be posted shortly) so we know how many are attending. Dress comfortably as volunteers may be needed for on-court demonstrations. Pen and paper recommended.

For those coaches still needing to get IMPACT certified, USA Volleyball now offers ONLINE IMPACT clinics monthly during the season. The clinic runs over two successive nights (both sessions required) and then a post-clinic test is required. Upon completion, you and the region will be sent a certificate proving your certification.
